Newport police arrested a 41-year-old Klamath Falls man for allegedly assaulting a protestor who was demonstrating in front of City Hall Saturday.
Police say they arrived at Newport City Hall that afternoon to find a 75-year-old man with a wound on the back of the head. A news release says the suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
Police say witnesses and video of the event showed a vehicle parked near the protesters.
They say Jacob Earl Busch was seen leaving his vehicle and running over to the protestors. He reportedly used his chest to push the man who fell back and hit the back of his head on the concrete.
Officers located the suspect vehicle and arrested Busch for assault.
