Fire In Green District Destroys Two Homes, Multiple Outbuildings

Multiple fire crews responded to reports of a fast-moving grass fire Friday afternoon in the Green District between Roseburg and Winston.

Fire officials said the Rolling Hills Road Fire was reported at 4:35 p.m. Friday. The fire was estimated to be about 1-acre and was threatening multiple structures.

Level 2, “Be Set,” and Level 3, “Go!” evacuation notices were issued by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for residents in the 

Green District near Rolling Hills Road, Melody Lane, Stella Street, Landers Avenue, and Chandler Drive. Those evacuation notices were lifted just after 7:00 p.m. as the Incident Commander reported that the fire was contained.

Two homes and multiple outbuildings were destroyed by the Rolling Hills Road Fire on Friday, July 24, 2021.

The Rolling Hills Road Fire burned approximately 20 acres of grass and brush and destroyed two homes, multiple outbuildings, and four vehicles.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
