After a challenging year, Enchanted Forest near Salem is reopening this weekend. Operating at just 15 percent capacity and by online reservation only, the park has already sold out.
Co-manager Susan Vaslev says this is the family’s third attempt to open, the first was stymied by an ice storm that destroyed parts of the park. And a wave of online threats about mask rules prevented the second. Vaslev says this time they couldn’t be happier with their comeback.
“So many people wanted us to be here, can’t wait for us to reopen, and we can’t just thank them enough it makes all of the difference in the world," Vaslev said. "The bright side to COVID is that we may not have never known those people felt as strongly as they did in support of our business.”
Vaslev adds with the pandemic, the Beachie Creek Fire, and the loss of two family members in that fire, it’s been tough. They’ve also accrued a lot of debt she said, but their sell out weekend is a good start. The park plans to add more days over the summer. More information here.
