Third Case Of Arrow-Wounded Deer Reported In Douglas County

Another deer has been found with an arrow lodged in its head, this time in Douglas County. Since spring, Oregon officials have investigated three such cases.

Shooting a deer out of season can lead to charges of animal abuse and harassment of wildlife.

Oregon State Police Wildlife Division Lieutenant Darin Lux says that while unfortunate, these reports are common.

"A lot of these animals do survive. We believe that the one in jackson county survived, which is a good thing. It's just tough on the animals…. it’s just not right.”

OSP believes the previous cases in Jackson County are related but do not have any ideas as to a common suspect.
