Arrests made during May Day protests in Eugene

Eugene Police arrested two people and cited four others after a group disrupted commuter traffic Thursday during a May Day protest downtown.

EPD says the protest began at the Park Blocks at 5:30 and moved to Kesey Square. Organizers urged participants to stay on the sidewalk, but at one point, several people got into the street.

EPD' Mobile Response Team addressed the splinter group which at one point took up all travel lanes on East 11th at around 6:30 p.m. Marchers also blocked a Lane Transit bus on Willamette Street.

MRT told participants to get out of the street. But, police say, some individuals did not comply and purposefully slowed down.

The arrests were for disorderly conduct and other charges.
