A 13-year-old Lane County girl who had been reported as a runaway and suspected to be a victim of sex crimes was returned to her parents over the weekend. The Lane County Sheriff's office had been seeking the teen, who was reported to possibly be with a 24-year-old man last month.
A detective was able to identify Joel Joseph Turner of Eugene as a suspect. He was found with the teen girl last Saturday near Skinner Butte in Eugene.
The Sheriff's office said Turner was arrested and charged with sex abuse, custodial interference and unlawful contact with a child.
In a release, LCSO said this arrest is part of an ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable members of our community.
