University of Oregon softball coach Melyssa Lombardi has been named the Big Ten softball coach of the year.
Lombardi led her team to the Big Ten regular season title in the Ducks' first year as members of the conference.
The university says it's the fifth time a UO softball coach has won a league's coach of the year honors.
The most recent time was 2016, when Mike White was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year.
The No. 4 Ducks were eliminated in the first round of the Big Ten tournament on Thursday with a 5-0 loss to Michigan.
The team now awaits a likely selection to the NCAA tournament.
