EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been updated throughout to include vote totals released Wednesday afternoon by Lane County Elections.
After Tuesday’s election, there are some changes to the Lane Community College Board of Education. Notably, it will have a full seven member panel for the first time since last November.
In the only contested race without an incumbent, former Lane County Commissioner Jerry Rust handily defeated Jeffery Cooper for Zone 1. Rust had 66% of the vote and Cooper 34%.
The two incumbents running for re-election appear to have kept their seats.
Julie Weismann had nearly 55% of the votes for the Zone 3 seat against challenger Devon Lawson.
And Zone 4 incumbent Austin Fölnagy was well ahead of challenger Richard Andrew Vasquez with nearly 67% of the vote.
Jesse Maldonado, who ran unopposed for the Zone 7 seat, got more than 33,000 votes as of Wednesday night. He had previously applied to fill the seat after Lisa Fragala left to join the state legislature. But the board was unable to agree on filling the seat so it was left up to voters to decide. A previous candidate, Bob Brew, dropped out of the race.
