Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is anticipating the busy summer season. In a press release, staff urge off-road vehicle riders who visit the area to respect closures, out-of-bounds zones, and OHV sound limits.
Excessive sound can disturb neighbors, other visitors and sensitive wildlife.
The Oregon Dunes Management plan establishes standards for OHV sound rules and monitoring.
Visitors to the dunes are encouraged to contact the visitors center for a complimentary sound check. The current limit is 93 decibels. Violation may result in a citation.
OHV users are encouraged to carry maps, follow posted signage and avoid creating unauthorized trails. More information about OHV use at the ODNRA, including downloadable maps, can be found here.
