Starting June 1, Deschutes County will enforce public use fire restrictions across all county-owned land and unprotected areas in unincorporated regions. Officials say these measures, in place annually since 2014, aim to reduce wildfire risks as summer temperatures rise.
The restrictions prohibit open fires, fireworks, and motorized vehicles on unimproved roads. Chainsaw and mower use is restricted from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. unless specific precautions are met. Smoking is also banned while traveling on unimproved roads.
The restrictions will remain in effect until mid-October.
A full list of regulations and affected areas can be accessed on the county's website.
