Oregon State Parks will begin a tree removal project at Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park south of Florence starting in January 2027.
Contractors plan to remove over 160 dead or unhealthy trees across the park.
Work will last about six weeks. The campground will close for several days during the project, though the exact dates are still being finalized.
Oregon State Parks plans to donate some of the removed logs to local watershed conservation groups for fish habitat restoration, while leaving select lower trunks as snags for wildlife nesting.
