Fire officials working on the Echo Mountain Complex Fire on Sunday morning said much of the fire line has been completed. The fire, near Lincoln City, is 20 percent contained and is about 2,435 acres in size.
Firefighters are expected to spend Sunday completing the last section of the fire line and begin mopping up.
Officials say the forecast of rain and mist later tonight will help firefighters make progress on mopping up and further securing the perimeter of the fire.
383 personnel are currently working on the fire. As with other fire officials working on other wildfires in Oregon, officials are thanking locals who’ve offered support with heavy equipment.
Additional resources are expected to arrive later today, including specialists trained in structure assessments. The public is being asked to avoid the fire area. Highway 18 remains closed for public use.
