Fire managers with the Middle Fork Complex and Knoll Fire will hold a Virtual Community Briefing Monday at 6:30 p.m. The incident management team will provide a status update of the ongoing containment efforts for those fires burning on the Willamette National Forest.
Questions for fire managers can be submitted in advance by emailing them to 2021.middlefork@firenet.gov, or during the livestream in the comment section. The meeting will be held on the Middle Fork Complex Facebook page.
The Middle Fork Complex is made up of 12 fires that were sparked from a lightning storm that moved through the area July 27-29. Of those, three remain active: the Kwis, Gales, and Ninemile. The Kwis Fire is the closest fire to Oakridge. The Gales Fire, located south of Forest Road 18/ Fall Creek Rd. is the most active fire. All told, the complex of fires has burned across 8,940 acres and is 7% contained.
The lightning-caused Knoll Fire began Aug. 5 and is burning between Hwy 126 and Deer Creek Rd., approximately seven miles northeast of McKenzie Bridge. The Knoll Fire has burned 544 acres and is 50% contained.
