Additional Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuation orders were issued Sunday for areas near fires burning north of Oakridge and in Douglas County.
The Kwis fire, part of the Middle Fork Complex on the Willamette National Forest prompted Level 1 notices Sunday for High Prairie, Fish Hatchery, Oakridge north of Roberts Rd., and Oakridge east of Salmon Creek. The Middle Fork complex of fires has burned 3,703 acres and is 10% contained.
Also on Sunday, the Douglas County Sheriff's office issued a “Be Ready” evacuation advisory for the Days Creek and Milo areas, including all addresses located on Ferguson Lane, Moore Ranch Rd., and Devils Knob Rd. Douglas County’s Skyline Ridge Complex has burned more than 2,400 acres and is 14% contained, while the Devils Knob Complex is burning across nearly 2,500 acres.
Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuation notices mean: residents should be aware of the danger that exists in their area, and monitor emergency services websites and local media outlets for information. This is the time for preparation and precautionary movement of persons with special needs, mobile property and (under certain circumstances) pets and livestock.
Excessive heat is in the forecast for the Pacific Northwest this week. A Fire Weather Watch beginning Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening for the Umpqua Basin. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible during the valid watch time. These conditions could promote the rapid spread of wildfires which could become life-threatening. The Jack Fire, Skyline Complex and Devils Knob Complex fires could all see growth from the hot weather and gusty winds.
