Suspect Shot After Scuffle With Springfield Police

Springfield Police Department

Officers with the Springfield Police Department were involved in a shooting Sunday night that sent one person to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

In a release, SPD said the shooting happened after officers responded to a disturbance in the neighborhood on the 400 block of Broadway at 9:07 pm Sunday.

Officers located a male suspect and attempted to take him into custody. A physical fight ensued and the man was shot. The suspect was taken to the hospital and the officers were treated for minor injuries.

The investigation is being handled by the Lane County Interagency Deadly Force Investigation Team. In Oregon, deadly use of force incidents are conducted by investigators who are independent of the involved agency as outlined under Senate Bill 111.

If anyone has any additional information they are asked to call the Springfield Police Department at 541-726-3714.
