  • Critics call Bill Charlap one of the strongest mainstream jazz pianists on the scene and one of the most gifted interpreters of standards. He has worked with the Gerry Mulligan Quartet, Benny Carter, Clark Terry and the Phil Woods Quintet where he remains. His most recent album, Written in the Stars (Blue Note) was released in 2000.
  • The new film Shadow of The Vampire opens this week; Actor Nicolas Cage is one of the producers of the film. His acting film credits include The Family Man, Gone in 60 Seconds, Face Off, Wild at Heart, Leaving Las Vegas, Birdy, Moonstruck, and Raising Arizona.
  • Actor Willem Dafoe stars in Shadow of The Vampire. We feature two interviews with Dafoe, one by film critic Roger Ebert, recorded live at the Cannes Film Festival last year, in which he discussed Shadow of the Vampire.

  • Hes edited The Annotated Wizard of Oz: A Centennial Edition. The book commemorates the 100th anniversary of the publication of L. Frank Baums classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Back in 1900, the first 10,000 copies printed of Baums book sold out in two weeks. Baum wrote 14 Oz books in all.
