University of Oregon's Teams Advance In NCAA Tournaments

Both University of Oregon Basketball teams are moving on to the second round of their NCAA tournaments.

On Friday, the No. 2 seeded Women’s team cruised to an easy 78 - 40 win over No. 15 Portland State, at Matthew Knight Arena. The Women are the Pac 12 Conference Champions under Pac 12 Coach of the Year Kelly Graves.

The No. 12 seed Men’s team upset No. 5 Wisconsin on Friday with a 72 - 54 victory. It was the ninth straight win for the men’s team, including sweeping their way to the Pac 12 Tournament title.

Both University of Oregon teams will play on Sunday- the Women face No. 10 Indiana in Eugene at 6:00pm, while the men will take on No. 13 UC Irvine who is coming off their first ever tournament win. That game tips off in San Jose at 6:40pm.

The Oregon State Women's team is looking for a round one NCAA Tournament win Saturday in Corvallis as the No. 4 Beavers take on No. 13 Boise State at 2:30pm.

Love Cross joined KLCC in 2017. She began her public radio career as a graduate student, serving as Morning Edition Host for Boise State Public Radio in the late 1990s. She earned her undergraduate degree in Rhetoric and Communication from University of California at Davis, and her Master’s Degree from Boise State University.
