'Sweet' Weekend For Oregon In NCAA Tournaments

@OregonWBB

After NCAA Tournament victories, the University of Oregon Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams are headed to the Sweet Sixteen.

The No. 2 seeded women dominated No. 10 Indiana with a final score of 91-68 on Sunday in front of a sold-out crowd at Matthew Knight Arena.

Junior forward Sabrina Ionescu led the team with 29 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds, earning her 18th career triple double. Ionescu is the NCAA all time men’s and women’s triple double leader.

The Ducks will face the winner of Monday’s round two match between No. 6 South Dakota State and No. 3 Syracuse on Friday in Portland.

Oregon’s No. 12 men’s team had a 12-point lead at the half of their competition against No. 13 UC Irvine, but the Anteaters came out of the break on a mission and went on a 14-point run to take the lead with 14 minutes remaining. The Ducks picked it up and went on to a 73-54 victory, advancing them to the round of 16. The men will play No. 1 Virginia on Thursday.

Oregon State University’s women’s team looks to join the Ducks in the Sweet 16. The No. 4 Beavers take on No. 5 Gonzaga Monday evening at 6.
