The Oregon men are the Pac-12 basketball regular season champs for the second year in a row after beating Oregon State 80-67 in Corvallis Sunday. This is the Ducks’ 4th regular-season title in the past six years.
Oregon’s long shooting was on display as the Ducks sank 15 three-pointers. Five Oregon players scored double digits, led by Will Richardson who scored a career-high 22 points in the Ducks’ win. Richardson was 6 of 7 from three-point range.
Ethan Thompson scored 16 points for Oregon State. Oregon State (14-2, 10-10 Pac-12) beat Oregon (19-5, 14-4 Pac 12) in the rivals’ first meeting of the season back in January.
Both teams now head to the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas. The top-seeded Ducks take the court Thursday, facing the winner of Wednesday’s match-up between Washington State and Arizona State. The Beavers are a No. 5 seed and face No. 4 seed UCLA on Thursday.
Last year’s Pac-12 Tournament was cancelled right as the COVID-19 pandemic was taking hold in March 2020. The Ducks are the reigning Pac-12 Tournament champs, winning the 2019 tournament for their 5th title. They entered that tournament as a No. 6 seed and had a huge upset win over the tournament's top-ranked Washington.
