Officials break ground for mass timber facility near Albany

Oregon State, University of Oregon, Portland State, others receive National Science Foundation money

The $1 million grants will help the universities develop strategic plans for how to grow the region’s semiconductor and mass timber industries and improve its electrical grid.

The Build Back Better grant provides $2 million for work to prototype using mass timber in affordable housing. The prototypes will be used to prove the viability of constructing small, affordable, single-family homes as well as building and retrofitting multi-story, multi-family dwellings.

UO and OSU awarded grants to further mass timber projects
