New Grants To Help Renovate The Corvallis Airport And Others Throughout Oregon

(Wikipedia)

The Corvallis Municipal Airport will see some major renovations following a $7.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The grant was announced by Oregon Senators Jeff Merkley, Ron Wyden and Representative Peter DeFazio.

The grant will go toward taxiway reconstruction and rehabilitate runway lighting. In their statements the congressmen praised its potential as a job booster for the area.

Patrick Rollens is with the City of Corvallis and says the money will help the airport stay up to date with federal regulations.

“The City of Corvallis has owned and operated this airport since just after World War II, so it’s a very old community asset. And we’re really hopeful and optimistic about keeping the airport fully functioning and safe for aviators in the future, and it’s going to be thanks to grants like this.”

Representative DeFazio says several more million dollars in grant money will make its way to airports in Albany, Corvallis, Eugene, Gold Beach and North Bend.
