A road closure near South Eugene High School will impact drivers beginning next week, as part of construction for a new sports complex on the Civic Stadium site.
Amazon Parkway will be closed to all traffic between 19th and 24th streets starting January 21st.
Brian Richardson is with the city’s Public Works department. He says “we have signs up right now telling people about the closure and then we’re going to be detouring cars in and around that area so people can safely and effectively move through there.”

As part of the construction, crews will be removing the pedestrian overcrossing that leads from the old civic stadium site to South Eugene High school and the Amazon bike path. The plan calls for the Eugene Civic Alliance to pay for the eventual replacement of the pedestrian bridge with an enhanced crosswalk.
The detours are as follows:
· Northbound traffic – turn west onto East 24th Avenue and north onto Willamette Street
· Southbound traffic – turn east onto East 19th Avenue and south onto Patterson Street
The closure will be in place 24-hours a day as crews work to safely remove the bridge and install the new sewer lines.
The road closure is expected to last until February 7th.
