Bailey Hill Road in West Eugene will be closed to through traffic starting Monday, June 16, between 18th and 11th Avenues. The closure will last through August.
The City of Eugene is starting work to improve Bailey Hill Bridge over Amazon Creek so it can withstand a major earthquake.
In a news release, the city said this retrofit will ensure emergency services can access West Eugene and the Churchill neighborhoods in the event of a major seismic event.
Vehicle traffic will be detoured to Oak Patch Road. Local access will remain available. Pedestrians and cyclists will not have to detour.
