Eugene's Kesey Square will be filled with the sound of brass this Friday as local music group Power of Tower plays for the July 6 First Friday ArtWalk.
The band’s name is an inversion of popular funk-rock group Tower of Power, and is a tribute band comprised of local Pacific Northwest musicians.
The Lane Arts Council is featuring the group to continue the City of Eugene’s initiative of bringing public music to the community to energize downtown.
Liora Sponko is the executive director of the LAC. She says the ArtWalk’s addition solidifies Eugene’s musical personality.
“It really brings the community together. And I feel that Eugene has a real possibility of being known as an art and music destination.”
The free concert is the first to run in tandem with the First Friday ArtWalks. The summer events will conclude with a festival in August featuring musicians, muralists, and artists.
