When you mention Edward Gorey to someone their response is always, "oh, I LOVE him" or "who?" An enigmatic wit who inspired the Decemberists, Guillermo del Toro, Lemony Snicket and of course Tim Burton, Gorey has been the embodiment of a cult author since 1953 and has delighted readers with his surreal literary nonsense and macabre pen and ink illustrations. A variety of readers will perform the works of Gorey, including "the Gashlycrumb Tinies" and "The Uninvited Guest" with cello accompaniment. A plethora of dancers will perform, and a few unusual surprises are planned. Local spooky vendors will haunt the lobby as well. 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of his birth, so to celebrate, the show is moving up from being a bar show (it was previously held at Spectrum, and Old Nicks,) to The Art House Theater.
