Black Out Day at JSMA

Black Out Day at JSMA

December 2, 2-4:30 pm - The Black Cultural Initiative presents Black Out Day at the JSMA, an afternoon of community, history and Black art. Join us for an evening of private art viewing with a focus on Isaac Julien’s Lessons of the Hour – Frederick Douglass, as well as two exhibitions from the Collection of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, Strange Weather and Glenn Ligon.

This event is a cultural gathering with a backdrop of music, hors d'oeuvres, refreshments, and complimentary wine. Flex your artistic muscles by creating art in the JSMA studio, and indulge in a brief history lesson by local Black historians. We look forward to seeing you at this amazing event!

The Black Cultural Initiative strives to foster a love of the arts and an opportunity for cultural connection within Lane County. Special thanks to the JSMA and to our health partner Kaiser Permanente for their support of this Black Out event!
