First Thursday Acoustic Americana series is our chance to spotlight music outside of our regular jazz programming. This month we present dadweed--an acoustic trio based in Portland, OR, reinventing traditional bluegrass by blending elements of jazz, folk, pop, and R&B into a unique fusion of pickin' and thumpin'.

dadweed is an acoustic trio based out of Portland, OR. Reimagining pickin’ and thumpin’ by blending elements of jazz/folk/pop/R&B within a traditional bluegrass lens, their sets explore a wide variety of styles and dynamics, with a focus on improvisation. Showcasing three-part vocal harmonies and virtuosic instrumentation, dadweed strives to redefine what’s possible in bluegrass. The acoustic trio toured throughout OR and WA in 2024 appearing at festivals, venues, and private events. dadweed released their first self-titled EP in Summer 2024 and will continue to release new singles throughout 2025.
2024 Shows: Oregon Country Fair (main stage), Mississippi Studios (opened for Kruger Brothers), Bridgetown Bluegrass Festival, McMenamins, Alberta Street Pub, Laurelthirst Pub, The Showdown, Tsunami Books, WOW Hall, The 1905, breweries, wineries, and private events.
