Joie de Vivre: Americans & Paris
Sat, Jan 24, 7:30pm
The Shedd Institute, Eugene, OR

Chuck Redd and his festival jazz unit are joined by Vanessa Greenway, Siri Vik, and Bill Hulings in an evening that looks at the special connection between American and Parisian jazz through the experiences of three American jazz musicians who worked in Paris and France during the middle decades of the 20th century- the soprano saxophonist Sidney Bechet, tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins and violinist Eddie South- and through the work of French composers and performers- Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli, Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet, Jaques Brel and more- which have had an ongoing presence on American musical culture today.

Join us for Dinners At Six before the show!

Thank you to our sponsors, The Eye Center, Residence Inn by Marriott and McKenzie River Broadcasting, for this concert.
