Red Octopus Theatre Company and Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) are pleased to announce auditions for their co-production of one of the world’s most beloved musicals, Fiddler on The Roof, directed by Jason Holland with musical direction by Milo Graamans. Those interested may audition at the Newport Performing Arts Center on either Saturday, November 11th at 1:00pm, or Sunday, November 19th at 6:00pm. All roles are open.

A staple of the musical theatre canon, Fiddler is a great show for actors with a wide range of experience on stage – featuring roles both large and small, for adults and youth alike. In addition to principle and featured roles, a handful of children will be selected to portray members of the village’s family groups. Some actors may portray more than one role, and all actors will be asked to sing.

The production is scheduled to run April 12-28, 2024, in the Alice Silverman Theatre at Newport Performing Arts Center. Rehearsals begin in January. Hopefuls need only attend one of the two audition dates, and will be asked to sing 32 bars (approximately 90 seconds) of a song of their choosing, or a song from the show. Callbacks (by invitation) will be held Monday, November 20th at 6:00pm.
