At Wordcrafters’ young writer’s program, Eugene- and Springfield-area youth age 9+ gather to craft stories, share ideas, and cheer each other on!

Writers need community to thrive, no matter their age. At Write Club, a monthly creative writing workshop for writers age 9+ at the Wordcrafters studio, you’ll get some writing done, deepen your writing skills, and connect with fellow writers.

Each month at Write Club, you’ll have the opportunity to talk about your writing life with your story-loving peers and find the community that can otherwise be hard to find in everyday life. No one quite understands a writer like another writer.

You’ll also delve into different topics on writing craft, learning more about your favorite genres, forms, and structures of writing, as well as how to revise your work.

Then you’ll play with prompts, jolting your creativity into fresh new words, generating new ideas and stories, letting your imaginative brain loose on the page. If you want, you can then share some of what you created with each other.

At Write Club, you’ll be surrounded by other word nerds in a laid-back environment where you have the freedom to be silly, creative, and inventive and see where your writing takes you.

About the instructor
Drea Lee (she/her), is a literary and performing arts educator. She has a B.A. in writing and literature, an M.A. in educational technology, and took part in ASU’s Your Novel Year program in 2016.

She’s been working with youth in public and private schools, after school programs, and online since 2009. When she’s not teaching, you can find her reading YA novels or playing with her three adorable chihuahua mixes.
