A panel of experts on counter-terrorism and intelligence will be sharing their knowledge this week at a forum on Homeland Defense and Security.

Lane County Sheriff Tom Turner will moderate the forum.  He says it's an opportunity for people to learn more from law enforcement about how they deal with terrorist threats.

Turner: "Everything from cyber issues that all of us face to more tacit, on-the-ground type thing, where, you know, suspicious package. We'll take 'em all on. And it ends up being a nice, comfortable place to air some of those concerns."

Dr. Ronald Graham is director of Criminal Justice at Northwest Christian University, which is hosting the forum.

Graham: "We look at this from a little bit different perspective and we also look at it for training. Recently, I returned from Afghanistan and I was working biometric intelligence operations. So we've got new intelligence-type of a certificate program."

Graham says NCU offers training programs in counter-terrorism. He says the forum is not about scaring people but helping to educate the community. The Security Forum is Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 5 at Northwest Christian University in Eugene.
