Eugene Police say a 17-year-old man has been taken into custody, following an hours-long stand-off with law enforcement in an area around High/Mill Streets and 14th/15th Avenues.
A spokeswoman says it's the same man sought in the Bailey Lane shooting near Monroe Middle School earlier Tuesday morning.
EPD had responded to the area to contact a "potentially dangerous subject". Due to the nature of the response, SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams were called in.
A reverse 911 call was sent out to nearby residences. Locals gathered outside the perimeter of the standoff to watch. The Register-Guard says a drone was used to survey a building, bobbing up and down near the second story. At one point, a flash-bang device was set off.
The suspect fled the scene of a shooting that happened before 11am, on the 2900 block of Bailey Lane. A bystander and responding police were able to give the victim medical attention before paramedics transported them to a Springfield hospital. No motive is known, though EPD officials say they believe the suspect and victim knew each other.
