Police presence was stepped up at South Eugene High School today, following a potential threat that a student received. After some investigation, the social media message turned out to be what authorities call “a misguided attempt at humor”.

Eugene police have arrested a young male connected to the anonymous message, after its recipient and their family shared its content with authorities.

Threats of potential violence are against the law and a violation of school rules.   Eugene Police urge parents to monitor their kids' online/social media activities.
