A couple has been charged with aggravated murder, in a case involving a young girl’s body found in the H-B Van Duzer Scenic Corridor east of Lincoln City almost a year ago.

The child’s remains were found in a duffle bag on December 10th, 2020, outside a rest area. For months, investigators sought to identify the victim.

Then last October, DNA samples revealed the girl to be 9-year-old Haley Mae Coblentz. She lived with her biological mother, Shawna Browning, and her mother’s girlfriend, Lauren Harrison, across Oregon and other parts of the Pacific Northwest. She had not been reported as a missing person after her death.

Oregon State Police and the Detroit FBI located Browning and Harrison in Michigan. Both were arrested on a Lincoln County warrant and are being held without bail in Wayne County, Michigan.
