Authorities seek leads on dead eagle found near Junction City

The killing of a bald eagle near Junction City has authorities asking the public for tips leading to those responsible.

A citizen reported finding the bird’s carcass in the Cox Butte area west of Junction City on November 30^th. Bald eagles are protected in Oregon, and the harassment, injury, or killing of such birds can result in a year in jail and a fine nearing $6,300.

Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Troopers remind people that bald eagles are common in the Willamette Valley, and are important to its ecosystem.
