The killing of a bald eagle near Junction City has authorities asking the public for tips leading to those responsible.
A citizen reported finding the bird’s carcass in the Cox Butte area west of Junction City on November 30th. Bald eagles are protected in Oregon, and the harassment, injury, or killing of such birds can result in a year in jail and a fine nearing $6,300.
Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Troopers remind people that bald eagles are common in the Willamette Valley, and are important to its ecosystem.
