The Springfield Police Department has opened an online survey for residents to weigh in on officers’ performance and share community concerns.

Jessica Crawford is the business services manager for the S-P-D. She says the evaluation was part of the department’s budget proposal last year, and will help determine priorities for law enforcement.

“What we’re hoping to do is just establish some good communication with the community, and get some input on public perception on what the department is doing and our officers, and identify some opportunities to evaluate the service and just be a learning organization.”

Portland State University has already done a random sample of 75-hundred Springfield residences. Locals can access the survey on the Springfield Police Department’s webpage until January 22nd.

PSU will present a final report in a future City of Springfield meeting.
