Monday night, a member of Terwilliger Fire suppression personnel was the victim of a hit and run.
Oregon state police troopers responded to a report that a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Highway 126, near the entrance of the base camp for the Terwilliger Fire.
Preliminary investigation reveals a vehicle, described by witnesses as a silver or gray Chevy Astro van, was travelling Westbound and struck a man, identified as 71 year old John Houdeshell of Yreka, CA.

The victim was air-lifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center at River Bend in Springfield where he remains in the intensive care unit. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and remains unidentified.
