Teen Dies In Vehicle Crash In Eugene Monday

Rachael McDonald

A 17 year-old South Eugene High School student died in a car crash in Eugene Monday, according to police. He was driving and hit a tree near East 23rd and Patterson Street. He's been identifed as Connor Truax by SEHS Principal Carey Killen.

Killen described Truax as a talented singer and musician who was involved in Taekwondo.

The four passengers, aged 15 to 18 were injured and taken to a local hospital.

Eugene Police say speed and impairment by inhalants are likely contributing factors to the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
