Linn-Benton Community College will break ground Thursday on a two-story addition to its Corvallis campus. The school says the project will include 20,000 square feet of additional classroom space, as well as expanded parking.

The Benton Center is located just north of downtown Corvallis and serves more than 5,000 students per year.

Jennifer Boehmer, the director of Institutional Advancement for Linn-Benton Community College, said much of the funding for the $13.7 million project came from a bond approved by voters five years ago. “This is really the fulfillment of the promise we made to the citizens in Corvallis and Benton County when they helped to pass our bond measure in 2014,” she said.

The addition is expected to be complete by December of 2020.
