As K-12 schools complete the remainder of the academic year online, encouraging students to login for classes can be difficult. But the Eugene 4J district’s efforts to keep students engaged seems to be working.
During a recent 4J school board meeting, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Charis McGaughy provided new attendance numbers.
In the fifth week of distance learning, 95.5% of elementary students participated in online learning at least once during the week. At the middle school level, 98.3% of students signed in at least once a week.
According to McGaughy, high school attendance also increased 11.1% from week two to week five. This brings the percentage of remote high school learners up to 75.7%.
4j is looking to the governor's guidelines as it assesses whether fall classes will continue to be online or if students and teachers will be able to meet in-person.
