It’s college graduation weekend in Oregon.
Oregon State University and Lane Community College will hold graduation ceremonies Saturday, and the University of Oregon’s commencement is on Monday.
OSU reports a record number of graduates this spring—more than 8,000 students earned a degree, either on the Corvallis campus, the OSU-Cascades campus in Bend, or through its e-campus. OSU’s procession starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, and the ceremony features an address from New York Times columnist—and former Oregon gubernatorial candidate—Nicholas Kristof.
Graduates of OSU-Cascades may also attend ceremonies in Bend on Sunday at 10 a.m., where 345 bachelor's and graduate degrees will be awarded.
LCC will celebrate its 1,272 graduates on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Lane Gymnasium at the main Eugene campus. It's the college's 60th commencement ceremony.
UO holds its commencement Monday morning, honoring 5,245 members of the class of 2025. Grads will file into Autzen Stadium starting at 8:15 a.m. The on-stage ceremonies begin at 9:00, and comedian and actress Jana Schmieding will give the keynote address.
Eugene area residents should expect increased activity on and around the UO campus. The university expects more than 30,000 people—including graduates and their guests—to participate in university and department graduation events through Monday evening. Although guests have been encouraged to carpool, traffic near the stadium may be heavy before and after the commencement ceremonies.
