Multiple official record high temperatures were set across the region Sunday, breaking records for June 8 that were set during a similar heat wave at this time of year in 1955.
Eugene saw a high of 94 degrees Sunday, which broke the previous record of 93 degrees that was set in 1955 and then matched in 2015.
Other records that had stood for 70 years were broken in Portland and Hillsboro, which each hit 96 degrees.
Roseburg topped out at 100 degrees, one degree higher than the record of 99 that was set in 2015.
The National Weather Service shows one more day of hazardous heat across inland areas Monday, while the coast begins to cool. There are heat advisories for the entire Willamette Valley and the Umpqua basin Monday.
With another day of hot weather in the forecast, another high record could fall: the record high for June 9 in Eugene is 91 degrees, set in 2015.
Eugene, Springfield, Corvallis, and Bend will reach into the mid 90s. Roseburg will see highs in the upper 90s, while coastal communities will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Forecasters say increasing onshore flow will see a cooling trend continue through the workweek.
