Enroll by Tuesday for 2016 Health Insurance

Oregonians have to sign up for health insurance now to have coverage starting January 1st. The December 15th deadline is for those wanting to change their health insurance plan or apply for the first time.

Lisa Morawski is with Oregon’s Insurance Marketplace.
She says even those already covered should review their plans on healthcare.gov.
Morawski: “Plans change every year. Many prices will change and different components of the plan, like what’s covered and what your copays are, might change year to year. It’s always good to go in and look at all your options.”
Morawski adds it’s important to update health status or income change on the healthcare website, even if the consumer wants to keep their current plan.
Those seeking coverage who miss the December 15th deadline can still apply through January, but their plans won’t take effect until the following month.
Go to the Health Insurance Marketplace website for more information.
