Kaiser Permanente Gives $290,000 In Grants To Bolster Community Health

kaiserpermanente.org

Kaiser Permenante officially joined Eugene's healthcare community in January, and since then, the provider has given $290,000 in grants to local non-profits, including two Latino programs. Huerto de la Familia received $200,000 to focus on food security and financial stability. The Nuestras Familias program provides mental health services, transportation assistance, and basic-needs support. It received $50,000. Doctor Tom Harburg is the Medical Director for Kaiser Permanente in Eugene.

Harburg: "Kaiser Permanente, as a matter of fact, has a couple of modules in the clinics that are all Latino, where the check in people and the doctors all speak Spanish. Basically any potentially underserved part of the community, we want to support."

Volunteers in Medicine received a $40,000 grant to focus on care for underinsured and uninsured adults in Lane County. The grants were awarded during a ceremony last week.
