The city of Newport is re-opening some city offices to the public for the first time since March.
The buildings were closed as part of the effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Newport’s City Hall will open its doors Monday through Thursday, from 8 A.M. until 2 P.M.
The city will also open its aquatic center and recreation center on a limited basis starting Tuesday, Oct. 6.
The Newport library will "tentatively" re-open on Oct. 19, "for computer usage by appointment only." The library will continue to offer its curbside pick-up service.
The Newport senior center will remain closed until further notice. The city also says that for the time being, all public meetings, including the Newport City Council, will continue to be held virtually.
Lincoln County has had relatively few new cases of COVID-19 recently, compared to late spring and early summer when the area faced several large workplace outbreaks. The county moved into Phase Two of Gov. Kate Brown's re-opening plan in late September.
