Delta Variant Found In Benton County

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Public health officials in Benton County say the delta variant of the coronavirus has been identified in three cases there.

The CDC says the variant is highly transmissible and is blamed for a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases nationwide.

"Unvaccinated people are the most vulnerable to COVID-19, so we urge everyone to get vaccinated if you haven’t already," said April Holland, deputy director of public health for Benton County.

Benton County is continuing efforts to offer vaccinations to everyone age 12 and above. The county is holding a free vaccine clinic Sunday afternoon at the Boys and Girls Club, located at 1112 NW Circle Blvd. in Corvallis. Appointments are not required.  The clinic runs from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
