Lane County Helps Fund Housing Projects With $2 Million

Several Lane County housing providers received a total of $2 million in grant money from the Lane County Board of Commissioners. The funds will go toward projects meant to reduce homelessness through permanent supportive housing.

The Legion Cottages Project obtained $250,000 to help develop housing for homeless veterans in Cottage Grove. Steve Ochs, with Homes for Good, says he’s thrilled to start.

"They targeted this for permanent supportive housing it’s really gonna help the people that need it the most," Ochs says, "That to me is, you know, a win for both the folks that will be getting help through these projects, but also for the community.

He says they’ve partnered with the University of Oregon’s architecture department to design and build four tiny houses. Homes For Good also procured $500,000 for the Commons on MLK project to construct 51 units for chronically homeless individuals.
