Guest Speakers: Representatives of Fred Meyer, the YMCA, and School District 4J to be announced
Eugene School District 4J categorized the 10-acre site as surplus property in 2002. About three years ago, 4J had three responses to its request for proposals to purchase, lease, or trade the property. All were declined.
Once again this fall, those who seek to preserve the historic stadium will vie with those who propose commercial and organizational developments.
Now 4J is beginning another process to entertain proposals for the site, which is near the city’s core and adjacent to both a commercial district and an established neighborhood. Proposals from sports to retail offer an infinite number of possibilities with a variety of potential impacts.
