The City of Eugene unveiled three options to revitalize Kesey Square, Friday.

The Register Guard reports the future of the public space area located on the corner of Broadway and Willamette Street has been debated recently. Some local businesses have been complaining to the city about the transient crowd that regularly convenes in the area, while others simply claim the area isn't being used appropriately.

Proposals were submitted by three groups; 2-EB LLC, business owner Ali Emami, and architect Otto Poticha. 2-EB LLC proposed a building with 35 to 40 apartments with retail and gathering spaces on the ground level. Ali Emami thinks a mixed use structure preserving parts of Kesey Square should be built. And the third proposal directs the city to buy Emami's two buildings and offer the property for sale to developers with special rules for the space. The Eugene City Council plans to review the proposals in the coming months.
