The results are in: Oregon Measure 101 passed with over 60% support. The passage of this measure intends to help prevent thousands of Oregonians from losing health care coverage. What does this mean going forward for the Oregon Health Plan? Will the Oregon legislature be required to revisit these issues when funding runs out? What other factors could affect adequate health care coverage in Oregon? Ryan Kounovsky, legislative staffer, speaks on the route taken to get to where we are now, and what we can expect moving forward.
Speaker Biography:
Ryan Kounovsky is a local Oregonian who grew up in Creswell and graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Political Science. Ryan was a legislative assistant for Oregon Representative Phil Barnhart during the 2017 legislative session, when Measure 101 was being crafted. Ryan has also been a congressional intern for US Representative Peter DeFazio. Ryan is an active community organizer and advocate with an interest in health care reform.
Charlie Swanson is an advocate member of the House Work Group on Universal Access to Healthcare and helps respond to City Club member questions during the question and answer period of today’s forum.
